While looking back on my career, I now more clearly see the times where I came to a crossroad of choices that would later have significant impact on the next few years of my life.
The first times, I simply thought my decision would simply help me get through the next few months or years. What I've learned along the way, though, has become even more important than the short-term result of those choices: it's most important to pursue life and the work that I love to do most. And while initially it seemed a bit selfish, I discovered that's actually God's intention all along. Ecclesiastes 5:19 says that "to enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God."
Even now, with our thriving practice helping others transform their lives and live by a purposeful design, I'm continually faced with those decisions myself. The challenge most often isn't that you have only one possible path to take, but that you have too many possibilities before you.
The key to dealing with the potentially overwhelming possibilities is to never relent on your pursuit to do the work you truly love. Just as there is no single perfect answer, there is no final answer. God gives you free will (and a gameplan) to choose better, to change, to live an abundant life ("plans to give you hope and a future" -- Jeremiah 29:11).
Transform your way of thinking, and you'll transform your life.
