Transforming Your Life (Part 3)

Over the past two weeks I shared that I believe God places in each one of us an innate desire to be better tomorrow than we are today. Whether you want to be good, great, exceptional or simply just better than yesterday, it likely won't happen without dealing with these three root causes. The desire to change and falling short often leads to frustration because: 1) I don't know what I truly want, 2) I don't know how to get there, and 3) It's not happening fast enough.

No. 3: "It's not happening fast enough"

Maybe it's not. Maybe you're inspired, but not focused; you haven't decided what you'll stop doing so you can harness all your energy. Perhaps you're running after the thought of it, but not ready for a transformation. The process of changing from what you are to what you want to be (whether it's your body, your business or your bank account) is most successful when it's a process of becoming. If you're doing something right now that's not delivering what you want, then stop. If you're spread too thin to make any real progress, thin out your commitments. Don't be doubleminded, because that person is "unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8).

Embrace the idea that often the main thing that separates achievers from the rest of the pack is that they don't give up. Their definition of perseverance is "failing until they succeed." Make it yours!
